How to buy in the showroom
- Walk into Post Office Building, 4th Floor, Ronald Ngala Street. The lift serves the floor. Matatu stages on Ronald Ngala Street are a two-minute walk.
- Tell us who will sit in the chair: approximate height, hip width, weight, indoor or outdoor use, and whether a caregiver will push.
- Sit in the chair on the floor. Lock the brakes. Fold it if it has to travel in a saloon car.
- Pay by M-Pesa, cash, bank transfer or LPO.
- If you order by 2pm we deliver the same day in Nairobi and fit it at the house. If you take it with you, we still set footrests and brakes before you leave.
You can skip the CBD entirely. WhatsApp 0791 371 374 with those five facts and we send the chair from this shop.
If you are buying from outside Nairobi
The price does not change upcountry. The clock does. Orders leave Ronald Ngala Street the same day. Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret usually receive the chair in same day, next day at the latest, as do Nakuru, Thika, Machakos, Meru, Nyeri, Kisii and Malindi. We still fit it: seat width, footrest height, brakes, and a short training for whoever will push. Town pages: wheelchair delivery in Kenya.
Same-day Nairobi neighbourhoods: Nairobi CBD, Eastleigh, Embakasi, Westlands, Kitengela.
What fitting actually means
Fitting is not a word we print on a carton. On delivery, or in the shop, we:
- Measure hip width. Two fingers of space each side is the target, not a guess from a photo.
- Set footrest height so the thighs sit on the cushion, not hanging or jammed.
- Lock both parking brakes and ask the caregiver to push against them.
- Show how to fold the frame, lift it into a car, and open it again without pinching fingers.
- On electric chairs, run the joystick, plug in the charger, and write down the replacement battery price so there is no surprise later.
If the size is wrong, we swap the chair. Wrong footrest height is how sacral sores start. That is why fitting is in the price.
Hospitals, other shops, Jumia
People type this query because they have already seen a chair in a hospital corridor, on a marketplace app, or in a general medical shop. Here is how those options sit next to this floor, without sending you away from the purchase.
- Hospital shops. Useful if you are already on the ward and need something today. The range is usually one folding frame. Fitting is rarely done at the bedside. Many of those chairs are restocked from suppliers like this one. If the ward chair is the wrong width, bring the user here after discharge.
- General medical shops. They sell what fits on a shelf: often one commode and one folding chair, no cerebral palsy seating, no spare controller. A shop that cannot fit the chair or honour a written warranty is not a wheelchair dealer.
- Jumia and similar listings. Wheelchairs Kenya Ltd sells on Jumia and Jiji at wholesale price, fulfilled from this showroom, with the same fitting and 12-month warranty. A listing that is not ours is usually a photo. If you are unsure, send us the screenshot on WhatsApp. We will tell you whether it is our stock.
The query is where to buy. The answer is this shop, this phone, these prices.
NCPWD and other subsidy routes
If the user is registered with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, ask NCPWD about the current assistive-devices programme. Allocations follow the budget year, so apply rather than wait for an announcement. We issue a free written quote with the exact chair and KSh figure, because a committee approves "KSh 25,000 extra wide foldable wheelchair" faster than "a wheelchair".
APDK branches, county social services offices, churches and service clubs also fund chairs. Prepare the disability assessment, the NCPWD card, an ID, and our quote. Treat the purchase as out-of-pocket until the letter lands. The longer guide is how to get a free or subsidised wheelchair in Kenya.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy a wheelchair in Kenya?
At Wheelchairs Kenya Ltd, Post Office Building, 4th Floor, Ronald Ngala Street, Nairobi CBD. Call or WhatsApp 0791 371 374. We are open every day from 6am to 9pm. If you cannot come in, we deliver. Same day in Nairobi if you order by 2pm, same day, next day at the latest to the rest of Kenya.
Do I have to come to Nairobi to buy?
No. WhatsApp 0791 371 374 with the user's height, hip width and weight. We send the chair from the Ronald Ngala Street shop and fit it on delivery. Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru, Meru and the other counties usually receive it in same day, next day at the latest.
What time are you open on Sunday?
The same hours as every other day: 6am to 9pm. Walk in at Post Office Building, 4th Floor, Ronald Ngala Street.
How much is a wheelchair if I buy from you?
From KSh 15,000 for a standard or paediatric chair to KSh 95,000 for the reclining electric. A commode wheelchair is KSh 18,000. A cerebral palsy wheelchair is KSh 40,000. Those prices include VAT, fitting and a 12-month warranty.
If I saw a chair on Jumia, should I order it there?
If the listing is Wheelchairs Kenya Ltd, yes, we fulfil that order from this shop and we still fit the chair. If it is another seller, you are usually buying a photo. Call us on 0791 371 374 and we will match the chair from stock with warranty.
Does NCPWD pay for the wheelchair?
Sometimes, if the user is registered with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and that year's assistive-device budget still has an allocation. We give you a written quote for the exact chair so the application has a number on it. Treat the chair as an out-of-pocket purchase until the letter arrives.
What does fitting actually mean when I buy?
We measure the user's hip width, set the footrest height, check both parking brakes, and show the caregiver how to fold the chair and lock it on a ramp. If the size is wrong on delivery, we swap it. A carton left at the gate is not a fitting.
